How to establish the "carriage return" affect for a new line in a cell?

Example

Cell new line

As you enter text in a cell, at the point where you want to start a new line in the same cell, press the Alt+Enter keys to create the "carriage return" effect, as shown in the picture.

You will also want to format the cell's Alignment for Wrap Text.

In Excel version 2003 or before:
From the worksheet menu, click Format > Cells > Alignment tab.
Select the option next to "Wrap text" and click OK.

In Excel version 2007:
From the Home tab, in the Cells section, click Format.
From the drop down menu, select Format Cells > Alignment tab.
Select the option next to "Wrap text" and click OK.
