Tom’s Tutorials For Excel: Reverse Lookup For Times in Milliseconds
You can format, analyze, and lookup (in this example, reverse VLOOKUP with CHOOSE) times measured in milliseconds.
In the first picture, times for a swimming race are measured in minutes, seconds, and milliseconds. The times in range B4:B12, and in cell B14, are custom format m:ss:000
as shown in the second picture.
This may also work:
{=TEXTJOIN(“,”,,IF(MIN(B4:B12)=B4:B12,A4:A12,””))}
It has the advantage of returning multiple names if they have the same swiftest swim time.
Thanks. The problem would be that it will appear not to work, returning a #NAME? error, for more than half of the world’s Excel users who are not (yet if ever) on 365 or 2019. But as you say, the multiple names for tied swim times is a nice benefit.
