Here is how you can enter text on its own line in a single cell. In the picture, some food items have been entered into cell A2. As you can see in the pictures that follow, the key is to press Alt+Enter at the point where you want to start a new line.
Finally, if you want to precede your new line’s text with a bullet character, type the key sequence Alt+0149 from the “number pad” section of your keyboard.

The Alt+0149 key sequence only appears to insert the bullet on an individual line basis, as opposed to inserting bullets on the entire list of items. I tried highlighting the entire list and this did not work. Any suggestions?
Alt+0149 is an ASCII sequence along with 254 others. You can place them anywhere, not just on one line. But, you would need to enter it (or copy and paste it) each place you want it, just like any other character or word. What it sounds like you are asking is how to select an entire list of items (presumably in different cells in a column), then press Alt+0149 and have the bullet character appear in each cell. Data entry does not work that way, unfortunately. However, you can employ a custom format to make the bullets automatically precede the text in a range of cells. Try this: Select the range of interest, which I presume is a list of text items that you want to precede with bullets. With that range selected, press Alt+O+E to show the Format Cells dialog box. Click the Number tab, and select Custom in the Category pane. In the Type field, enter (or copy) this: • @
Click OK and you will have the effect you want.
